NHL: Dallas 3, Los Angeles 2

LOS ANGELES, April 1 (UPI) -- Brendan Morrison's two power-play goals Tuesday carried the Dallas Stars past the Los Angeles Kings 3-2.

The win at Staples Center kept the Stars' faint playoff hopes alive by snapping a seven-game winless streak.

Jack Johnson and Anze Kopitar scored for the host Kings, who are also struggling to stay in the Stanley Cup race.

Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 35 shots for the Kings. Marty Turco turned in a solid 26-save performance.

Morrison's goals both came in the second period and staked Dallas to a 3-1 lead. His first was at 1:55 on a redirect of a shot by Mike Modano. The second, Morrison's 16th of the season, came on a slap shot from the left circle that whistled just inside the far post at 15:19.

Kopitar scored his 26th goal of the season with 1:31 to play in regulation to pull Los Angeles to within one point. Turco and the Dallas defense then kept the Kings at bay the rest of the way.
