
TORONTO, March 28 (UPI) -- Mark Recchi's 18th and 19th goals of the season Saturday helped the Boston Bruins win a wild 7-5 contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The contest was tied 3-3 after the first period but Boston scored four times in the second to build a 7-4 lead. Montreal came within the final score when Niklas Hagman scored at 14:39 of the third.
Five other Boston players all had one goal.
Both Dennis Wideman and Matt Hunwick had three assists, while Manny Fernandez was beaten five times on 38 shots for the Bruins, who lead the Eastern Conference with 104 points, five ahead of idle Washington.
Toronto got two goals and one assist from Alexei Ponikarovsky. Nikolai Kulemin, John Mitchell (power play) and Niklas Hagman scored once each.
Mikhail Grabovski and Jason Blake both had two assists, and Canadiens' goalies Justin Pogge and Curtis Joseph combined to allow seven goals on 31 shots.
