SACRAMENTO, March 28 (UPI) -- Marc Gasol's 27 points Friday helped bring Memphis a 113-95 win over Sacramento -- the Grizzlies' first victory over the Kings in 21 tries.
The Memphis franchise had not won in Sacramento since April 19, 1998, when the Grizzlies were based in Vancouver.
Memphis took a big step toward ending that streak by building a 22-point halftime lead and limiting the Kings to 15 points in the second period. Sacramento has the worst record in the NBA at 15-56 and two of those victories have come against Memphis.
Gasol made 8-of-12 shots from the field and all 11 of his free throw attempts. Rudy Gay added 23 points and Mike Conley had 20.
Sacramento was led by 31 points from Kevin Martin.
