ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., March 26 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Terrell Owens says he won't attend workouts with the Buffalo Bills until he's required to be there.

Owens raised eyebrows this week when he missed the start of the team's voluntary off-season conditioning program.

Owens, who signed to a one-year deal earlier this month after being waived by Dallas, said he prefers to follow his own off-season workout routine.

"I talked to Coach (Dick) Jauron prior to the start of the workouts about that," Owens told USA Today. "Right now if there's nothing mandatory that I have to be a part of, then I won't intend to be there. I've never gone to a voluntary workout. I have a personal trainer. I take very good care of myself. I take pride in coming into camp in shape."

He added that he expects to attend Buffalo's mini-camp in June and could possibly work out with his new teammates at other some point this off-season, USA Today said.
