PHOENIX, March 26 (UPI) -- Grant Hill scored the go-ahead basket with 31 seconds left Wednesday and Phoenix pulled out a vital 118-114 victory over Utah.

The Suns, winners of six in a row, stayed three games behind Dallas for the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference. Utah, meanwhile, slipped back into a tie with Portland for the sixth and seventh spots and those two teams are only one game in front of Dallas. The Jazz had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Phoenix overcame a six-point halftime deficit to take a six-point advantage of its own into the third period.

The game stayed close throughout the fourth quarter and Utah tied it at 114-114 on a jumper by Ronnie Brewer with 46 seconds to go.

Hill then put the Suns back in front with his jumper, after which both Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur missed jump shots for the Jazz. Hill finally grabbed the rebound, leading to two free throws by Matt Barnes with 5 seconds left that clinched the victory.

Hill made 10-of-15 shots from the field and scored 24 points to lead the Suns. Jason Richardson added 23.

Williams scored 25 points for Utah.
