Report: Hawaii player indicted

HONOLULU, March 21 (UPI) -- University of Hawaii cornerback JoPierre Davis has been indicted on charges he molested a coed in her dorm room and punched her in a nightclub, authorities say.

Davis, 21, was indicted by a grand jury in Oahu Friday on first-degree burglary, second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree assault and marijuana possession, the Hawaii Star-Bulletin reported.

The charges stem from incidents last fall and early this year. Police allege Davis entered the 20-year-old woman's university dormitory room Sept. 28 and molested her. A police report said the incident started the night before when Davis allegedly showed up uninvited at the woman's birthday party.

Then on Jan. 18, he allegedly groped her at a Waikiki nightclub. The woman told authorities she slapped Davis in the face and left the dance floor but that he then punched her in the mouth, knocking her unconscious.

Davis also is charged with assaulting a 26-year-old man in the same club.

Following his arrest, Davis immediately was suspended indefinitely by Coach Greg McMackin.
