COL BKB: North Carolina 84, LSU 70

GREENSBORO, N.C., March 21 (UPI) -- North Carolina's Ty Lawson scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half Saturday to lead the Tar Heels to an 84-70 win over LSU in the NCAA South.

The point guard, who missed North Carolina's previous three games due to a sprained big toe on his right foot, also had six assists for the Tar Heels (30-4).

Wayne Ellington also scored 23 points and Tyler Hansbrough had 15 points and eight rebounds for top-seeded North Carolina, which took control with 11 consecutive points late in the second half.

Marcus Thornton had 25 points and Tasmin Mitchell 18 for the eighth- seeded Tigers (27-8).
