GREENSBORO, N.C., March 21 (UPI) -- Gerald Henderson scored 24 points Saturday to lead second-seeded Duke to a 74-69 win over Texas in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament.
With Duke leading by three with 11.5 seconds left, Henderson grabbed a rebound, was fouled, and made both free throws for the final margin.
Kyle Singler added 17 points and seven rebounds before fouling out late for Duke (30-6), which won its 17th ACC Tournament title and advanced to play Villanova in the Sweet 16 in Boston Thursday.
A.J. Abrams, who played in a Big 12-record 144th career collegiate game Saturday, led seventh-seeded Texas (23-12) with 17 points. Varez Ward added 16 points and Damion James had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
