
BLACKSBURG, Va., March 21 (UPI) -- Kevin Rogers and Curtis Jerrells scored 16 points apiece Saturday in Baylor's 84-66 second-round NIT rout of Virginia Tech.
Baylor quickly took the home crowd out of the contest by racing to a 22-5 lead after the first 12 minutes. The Bears then led 41-21 at the half and quelled any attempted Tech rally in the second stanza.
The Hokies sank just one of their first 17 shots.
LaceDarius Dunn, Tweety Carter, Josh Lomers and Henry Dugat all scored in double figures for the winners. Rogers added had eight rebounds, and Jerrells four rebounds with five assists for the Bears (22-14), who face Auburn Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Malcolm Delaney led Tech with 14 points and 10 assists. A.D. Vassallo scored 12 points with four rebounds for the Hokies, who ended the season with a 19-15 record.
