CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 20 (UPI) -- Greg Biffle won't drive in Saturday's Nationwide auto race at Bristol because of bruised ribs, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported.
Biffle will be replaced by Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth for the Scotts Turf Builder 300 at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Biffle told the newspaper he was hurt while boating with friends. When he jumped from the dock to the boat, his foot slipped on a wet spot and he hit his right side on the side of the boat, he said.
He is third in the Nationwide standings with 416 points but in the Sprint Cup standings, he is 10th, 154 points behind front-runner Jeff Gordon.
The Vancouver, Wash., native, the 2001 Nationwide rookie of the year, plans to drive in Sunday's Sprint Cup Food City 500.
He hasn't won a race in either series this season but finished fourth at the Auto Club 500 last month.
