ATLANTA, March 20 (UPI) -- Johan Franzen scored his 30th goal of the season Friday and had two assists as part of an offensive display that gave Detroit a 6-3 win over Atlanta.
The high-powered Red Wings won for the fourth straight time and have captured seven out of nine games.
Detroit already owned a 3-0 lead when Franzen scored on the power play 7:55 into the third period.
Marian Hossa reached 36 goals for the season with a third-period tally and Pavel Datsyuk moved within one of the 30-goal mark with a tally in the second.
Hossa returned to Atlanta for the first time since he was dealt by the Thrashers to Pittsburgh at last year's trade deadline. He played in Atlanta for four seasons.
Chris Osgood gave up three goals, all in the third period, on 34 shots to get the win.
Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta's leading scorer, returned after a two-game absence caused by an upper body injury. He had one assist.
