LOS ANGELES, March 20 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol both scored 21 points Thursday and the Los Angeles Lakers rode a hot third period to defeat Golden State 114-106.

The Lakers bounced back from a last-second, one-point loss to Philadelphia Tuesday and remained a game behind Cleveland for the best record in the NBA.

Los Angeles had a one-point lead at halftime, but raced to an 18-point advantage late in the third period.

Bryant, however, made only 9-of-25 shots from the field on an otherwise good shooting night for the Lakers. They made half their field goal attempts and were 8-of-16 from 3-point range.

Monta Ellis led Golden State with 27 points.
