KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 20 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin was almost perfect from the field Thursday and scored 28 points in carrying Oklahoma to an 82-54 NCAA Tournament win over Morgan State.
Griffin, who suffered a concussion late in the season that was instrumental in Oklahoma losing four out of six contests, put up 12 shots against the Bears and missed only one. He added 13 rebounds in helping Oklahoma pull away late in the first half to a 19-point lead at the break.
The Sooners (28-5), seeded No. 2 in the South Region, will take on 10th-seeded Michigan in the second round Saturday after the Wolverines hung on to defeat Clemson Thursday.
Morgan State scored only five points in the first 6 minutes, but came back to trail the Sooners by just one midway through the opening period. Oklahoma outscored the Bears for the rest of the half 28-10.
Taylor Griffin, Blake's brother, added 17 points and freshman Willie Warren had 16.
Morgan State, winners of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's regular-season and tournament titles, was led by Reggie Holmes with 14. The Bears finished the season at 23-12.
