GREENSBORO, N.C., March 20 (UPI) -- Jon Scheyer led six players in double figures Thursday night and Duke coasted to an 86-62 win over Binghamton in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Devils enjoyed surges early in each half to move within one victory of the 30-win mark this season. They will try to get that win in the second round Saturday against Texas, which rallied to defeat Minnesota earlier Thursday.

Duke held the Bearcats scoreless for a 2-minute stretch early in the game while taking a 19-7 lead and then kept Binghamton without a point for almost 4 minutes early in the second half en route to a 26-point cushion.

Lance Thomas added 14 points for the Blue Devils and both Gerald Henderson and Nolan Smith had 13.

Binghamton, which won both the regular-season title and the tournament crown in the America East Conference, finished its season at 23-9. The Bearcats were led by D.J. Rivera with 20 points.
