HOUSTON, March 17 (UPI) -- Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry was shot in the leg early Tuesday and will miss at least a week of the NBA schedule, the team said.

Landry was shot in what was described as a drive-by shooting or attempted robbery near downtown Houston, the Houston Chronicle reported. The incident occurred shortly after the Rockets returned to Houston after a game in New Orleans.

Landry was driving when his car was bumped from behind by another car, police said. He left his car to check for damage and two shots were fired from the other vehicle, with one bullet hitting Landry, the Chronicle report said.

The report said Landry was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, treated and released. A team official told the Chronicle the injury was considered a flesh wound and Landry would miss one or two weeks of play.

Landry, in his second year with Houston, is averaging 9.3 points and 5 rebounds a game this season.
