DAYTON, Ohio, March 17 (UPI) -- Kenneth Faried had 21 rebounds and 14 points Tuesday to carry Morehead State to a 58-43 win over Alabama State to open the NCAA Tournament.

Morehead State (20-15), making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1984, next plays top-ranked Louisville in the Midwest Regional Friday. Louisville beat Morehead State 79-41 in November.

Alabama State (22-10), which had won 13 of its previous 14 games, was paced by Andrew Hayles with 14 points.
