Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 16 (UPI) -- Top seed Dinara Safina and fourth-seeded Vera Zvonareva were winners Sunday at the Paribas Open at Indian Wells, Calif.
In a round in which most favorites came out on top, Safina defeated 28th-seeded Peng Shuai 7-5, 6-4 while Zvonareva dropped Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-1.
Caroline Wozniacki, the ninth seed, beat 18th-seeded Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 but the No. 19 seed, Anna Chakvetadze fell to qualifier Shahar Peer.
Also Sunday, eighth-seeded Victoria Azarenka defeated Elena Vesnina 6-3, 7-5, 17th-seeded Amelie Mauresmo was upended by Li Na 7-5, 6-2 and Urszula Radwanska beat Alexa Glatch 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in a match between two wild-card entrants.
