Report: Iraqi soccer player shot by fan

HILLA, Iraq, March 16 (UPI) -- Iraqi soccer player Heidar Kazem was shot and killed by a rival fan after scoring a goal in game played south of Baghdad, local reports said.

The international soccer news Web site Goal.com cited unspecified local reports indicating Kazem was taken to a hospital after the Sunday incident in Hilla, about 60 miles south of Baghdad, but died en route.

The Web site said reports indicated Kazem had just scored a goal for Sinjar against Buhayra when it is believed an angry rival fan took out a gun and pulled the trigger, striking Kazem in the head.
