NHL: Vancouver 4, Colorado 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 16 (UPI) -- First-period goals by Kyle Wellwood, Alex Burrows and Taylor Pyatt Sunday night led the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-2 win over Colorado.

Ryan Kesler had three assists and Alexander Edler added a power-play goal late in the third, as Vancouver stopped an eight-game losing streak against the Avalanche. Roberto Luongo made 18 saves for the Canucks, who have won six of their last eight games and sit in fifth place in the Western Conference playoff chase.

Darcy Tucker and Ryan Smyth scored and Andrew Raycroft had 19 saves for the Avalanche, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.
