NHL: New York Rangers 4, Philadelphia 1

NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- Sean Avery scored two of the New York Rangers' three power-play goals Sunday in a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Avery lifted a shot over Flyers goalie Antero Nittymaki for the game's first goal with 2 minutes left in the first period and knocked in another goal early in the third.

Nik Antropov, on a power play, and Fredrik Sjostrom also scored for New York, which has won five of its last seven games.

Simon Gagne got Philadelphia's goal, also on a power play.

Henrik Lundqvist made 24 saves for the Rangers and Nittymaki totaled 35.
