LOS ANGELES, March 13 (UPI) -- Jon Brockman scored 20 points with eight rebounds Thursday, helping carry Washington into the Pacific-10 semifinals with an 85-73 win over Stanford.
The 10th-ranked Huskies held Stanford scoreless for almost four minutes down the stretch to put the game away and set up a semifinal meeting Friday with No. 23 Arizona State.
Arizona State opened the quarterfinal action Thursday by downing Arizona 68-56.
Washington improved to 25-7, getting 14 points from Isaiah Thomas and 11 from Quincy Pondexter. Stanford was led by 26 from Anthony Goods.
Arizona State (23-8) pulled away in the second half behind a 27-point effort from James Harden. The Sun Devils completed a three-game sweep of the Wildcats this season and won their second straight after suffering a three-game losing streak. The Arizona loss could end the school's run of 24 consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
In the evening quarterfinals, USC edged California 79-75 and No. 14 UCLA defeated Washington State 64-53.
Two free throws by Daniel Hackett with a second remaining secured USC's win after California had almost rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit.
