NEWARK, N.J., March 12 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur logged his 550th NHL career victory with 26 saves on 28 shots Thursday night to help the New Jersey Devils record a 5-2 win over Phoenix.
Brodeur needs one more win to tie Patrick Roy for most career victories by an NHL goalie.
Patrik Elias had one goal and one assist. The goal, his 27th this season, gave New Jersey a 4-1 advantage at 13:03 of the second period, and the assist came on Travis Zajac's 19th (power play) at 4:58 of the third.
Four others scored once, while Bryce Salvador had two assists for the Atlantic Division-leading Devils, who increased their lead over Philadelphia to nine points (91-82) after the Flyers lost 2-1 to Washington.
Phoenix got goals from Scottie Upshall (power play) in the first and Steve Reinprecht in the third.
Josh Tordjman was beaten five times on 36 shots in the Coyotes' fourth loss in a row.
With the man-advantage, New Jersey went 1-for-2, while Phoenix went 1-for-3.
