WBC: Venezuela 10, Italy 1

TORONTO, March 10 (UPI) -- Venezuela erupted for nine runs over the fourth and fifth innings Tuesday for a 10-1 win that eliminated Italy from the World Baseball Classic.

Bobby Abreu, Miguel Cabrera, Jose Lopez and Ramon Hernandez all homered in a five-run fifth inning.

Venezuela's Enrique Gonzalez pitched four scoreless innings for the victory.

Venezuela advanced to the second round and will take on the United States for the grouping's top seed Wednesday. Venezuela lost 15-6 loss to Team USA Sunday.
