Rams release veteran OT Orlando Pace

ST. LOUIS, March 10 (UPI) -- Veteran offensive tackle Orlando Pace was released Tuesday by the St. Louis Rams.

Pace, the No. 1 pick in the 1997 NFL draft out of Ohio State, has been the Rams' starting left tackle for 12 seasons. He started the Rams' first 14 games in 2008 before suffering a season-ending triceps injury.

Pace appeared in 158 games in his 12-year career, all with the Rams, including 154 starts. He was selected to seven consecutive Pro Bowls from 1999-2005, fourth-most appearances in franchise history.

Pace started 10 post-season games, including two Super Bowls. He was a member of the Rams Super Bowl XXXIV championship team after the 1999 season.
