Odom suspended for scuffle involvement

NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom was suspended one game without pay Tuesday for joining a fight in a Monday game against Portland.

LA's Trevor Ariza was ejected after committing a flagrant foul on Portland's Rudy Fernandez, sparking the outbreak between the other players in the game.

The league decided Ariza would not be suspended, but Odom drew the lone suspension for leaving the bench to get involved in the on-court situation.

Fernandez remained on the floor under the basket and was removed via a stretcher with a precautionary neck brace. The guard-forward was taken to the hospital where he reported having chest discomfort.
