
TORONTO, March 8 (UPI) -- Baltimore's Melvin Mora had a solo homer among two hits and three RBI Saturday, helping Venezuela record a 7-0 World Baseball Classic win over Italy in Toronto.
The LA Angels' Bobby Abreu hit a two-run single in a four-run fifth inning. Carlos Guillen hit a solo homer.
Jose Lopez had three hits, a walk and three runs scored, while winning pitcher Felix Hernandez of Seattle (1-0) surrendered one single in four scoreless innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
Venezuela can move into the second round Sunday night with a victory against the United States, a 6-5 winner against Canada Saturday.
After starter Mike DeFelice hurled four scoreless innings, losing pitcher Jason Grilli (0-1) gave up three runs, two hits and a walk in the fifth.
Frank Catalanotto and Giuseppe Mazzanti had two hits apiece and Valentino Pascucci walked twice and singled in four plate appearance for Italy, which not qualify for the second round in 2006.
