NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Nikolai Zherdev scored with 6:22 left to play and the New York Rangers held on Sunday for their third straight win, edging the Boston Bruins 4-3.

The Rangers had led 3-1 after second-period scores by Nik Antropov, Scott Gomez and Ryan Callahan but Boston fought back to tie it in the third on goals by Zdeno Chara and Michael Ryder.

The teams then battled for 10 scoreless minutes before Zherdev knocked in the game-winner from the right wing, assisted by Marc Staal.

Boston's other goal, by Chuck Kobasew, came in the second period.

New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist stopped 36 shots. Manny Fernandez had 26 saves for Boston, which has dropped four of its last five games.
