NHL: Minnesota 3, Anaheim 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., March 8 (UPI) -- Stephane Veilleux scored twice and Niklas Backstrom stopped 35 shots for Minnesota Sunday, boosting the Wild to a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Veilleux's first goal came on a rebound shot just over a minute after the game began and he broke a 1-1 tie with a slapshot late in the middle period.

Andrew Brunette sent the Wild ahead 3-1 with 8:11 remaining in the third period.

Anaheim's Todd Marchant scored unassisted with his team shorthanded in the second and Scott Niedermayer got the other Ducks goal with 25 seconds left in the game.

Jonas Hiller was 22-of-25 in goal for the Ducks.
