Semifinals set at Monterrey Open

MONTERREY, Mexico, March 7 (UPI) -- No. 2 seed Marion Bartoli survived a three-sets battle with Vania King Friday to reach the semifinals of the inaugural Monterrey Open.

Bartoli fought off King 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the hard-court event at the Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

Fourth-seeded Zheng Jie advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Gisela Dulko, while No. 6 seed Iveta Benesova was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and Li Na moved on by defeating Lucie Safarova 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

Bartoli will face Zheng and Benesova will meet Li in the semifinals.
