NHL: N.Y. Islanders 7, New Jersey 3

UNIONDALE, N.Y., March 7 (UPI) -- The New York Islanders, led by Sean Bergenheim's first NHL career hat trick, rolled to a 7-3 win over New Jersey Saturday.

Bergenheim scored his 12th and 13th goals this season in the second period, and his 14th (empty net) capped the scoring with one second left in the third.

Jeff Tambellini had one goal and one assist. Radek Martinek, Kyle Okposo (power play) and Blake Comeau (power play) also scored for the Islanders.

Both Jack Hillen and Josh Bailey had two assists, and Joey MacDonald made 35 saves on 38 shots for the Islanders, who set a season-high in goals scored in their third win in four games.

New Jersey's Brian Gionta, Patrik Elias (power play) and Jamie Langenbrunner scored goals for the Devils.

Martin Brodeur was beaten six times on 26 shots, while backup goalie Kevin Weekes gave up a goal on the only shot he faced in the third for the Devils, whose four-game win streak ended.
