TORONTO, March 7 (UPI) -- Dwayne Roloson stopped 39-of-40 shots Saturday night, helping the Edmonton Oilers record a 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After a 1-0 first period deficit, Edmonton got two goals from Kyle Brodziak, one unassisted in the second period and the other (empty net) at 19:32 of the third. The Oilers got second-period goals by Ales Hemsky (unassisted) and Fernando Pisani.
The win gave the Oilers a split of their last four outings and allowed them to snap a three-game losing streak to the Maple Leafs. Team captain Ethan Moreau missed his third straight game because of an eye injury and is out indefinitely.
Toronto averted a shutout on Alexei Ponikarovsky's 18th goal of the season (power play) at 1:08 of the first period.
Martin Gerber was beaten three times on just 17 shots for the Oilers, who improved to 1-1-1 on their critical four-game road trip.
