NHL: Columbus 8, Detroit 2

DETROIT, March 7 (UPI) -- Rick Nash recorded his fourth NHL career hat trick Saturday night in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 8-2 rout of Detroit.

It was the second time this season that Nash scored three goals in one game against the Red Wings.

He scored his 29th (shorthanded, unassisted) at 15:40 of the second, his 30th (unassisted) just 15 seconds into the third, and his 31st (unassisted) at 12:16 of the third.

R.J. Umberger scored his 23rd and 24th goals and added one assist.

Raffi Torres, Jason Williams and Andrew Murray all scored once, while Steve Mason made 44 saves on 46 shots for the Blue Jackets, who established a franchise record for goals in one contest.

Henrik Zetterberg and Aaron Downey scored once each and Chris Osgood was beaten seven times on 23 shots before giving way to Ty Conklin, who gave up one goal on five shots in the final 16-plus minutes for the Red Wings, who had won four of five.
