BOSTON, March 7 (UPI) -- Mark Recchi scored in both the first and second periods Saturday, powering the Boston Bruins to a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The victory stopped Boston's overall three-game winless streak.

Recchi's 14th goal this season was the game's first, and his 15th gave Boston a 3-1 lead at 16:16 of the second.

David Krejci (21), Phil Kessel (27), and P.J. Axelsson 5 (empty net) all scored once.

Patrice Bergeron had two assists, while netminder Tim Thomas made 32 saves on 35 shots for the Bruins, who finished a six-game homestand with a 3-2-1 mark.

Chicago's Jonathan Toews, Kris Versteeg and Patrick Kane each scored once. Kane also had one assist. Blackhawks goalie Cristobal Huet was beaten four times on 38 shots.

Chicago has split its last four outings.
