COL BKB: Kansas 83, Texas 73

LAWRENCE, Kan., March 7 (UPI) -- The ninth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks, led by Sherron Collins' 21 points, beat Texas 83-73 Saturday to win their fifth straight Big 12 championship.

The Jayhawks (25-6, 14-2 Big 12) won six of their final seven regular season games to edge fifth-ranked Oklahoma, which was 13-3 in the Big 12.

Cole Aldrich had 10 rebounds and 12 points for Kansas.

Damion James scored 26 to lead Texas in scoring. The Longhorns (20-10, 9-7) were outscored 46-29 in the second half.
