TAMPA, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- Brad Boyes needed just 27 seconds to score an overtime goal Friday and St. Louis, despite blowing a two-goal lead in the third period, downed Tampa Bay 4-3.
Boyes took a feed from Carlo Colaiacovo at the left point and leaned into a slapshot that found the right corner of the net.
Andy McDonald had a goal and three assists for the Blues, who have won four out of five. Chris Mason made 20 saves.
Even with their recent success, the Blues need to pass four teams to gain a playoff spot in the tightly bunched Western Conference.
Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos each had a goal and an assist for the Lightning, who have lost four of five and eight of 10. Karri Ramo gave up four goals on 36 shots.
David Backes gave St. Louis a 3-1 lead 6:10 into the third period, but Matt Pettinger brought Tampa Bay within one with 7:50 to play.
Steven Stamkos tied it with just 16 seconds remaining by tipping in a shot by Cory Murphy.
