AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 6 (UPI) -- Richard Hamilton scored 22 points Friday night and the Detroit Pistons broke the game open early en route to a 108-91 victory over Golden State.
The Pistons ended the opening quarter on a 20-4 run that gave them a 33-16 lead. The game was never in doubt over the final three periods.
Tayshaun Prince and Jason Maxiell added 16 each for the Pistons, winners of four in a row. That streak followed an eight-game losing skid -- Detroit's longest in 14 years.
Golden State, losers of six out of eight, got 25 points from Jamal Crawford and 13 each from Marco Belinelli and Anthony Morrow.
The 33 points were the most Detroit has scored in an opening quarter this year. The Pistons won their two-game season series with Golden State for the second straight year.
