Extra workers for Atlanta auto race

HAMPTON, Ga., March 6 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Motor Speedway has hired additional ticket agents to meet the expected walk-up demand for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500 Sprint Cup auto race.

Officials anticipate a strong walk-up crowd because the weather forecast says temperatures could be in the mid 70s, one week after snow blanketed much of the northern part of Georgia.

Also, extra concessionaires, security, ushers and trash management personnel have been hired.

"With sunny conditions forecast for all three days of the Kobalt Tools 500 race weekend, we wanted to ensure our staff is prepared to adequately serve a large number of walk-up patrons," Atlanta Motor Speedway president and general manager Ed Clark said in a statement.

It will be the 100th Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in nearby Hampton.

Bobby Labonte leads all active Sprint Cup drivers with six wins at the AMS. Kyle Busch, last week's winner in Las Vegas, is the defending champion.
