Report: Rams receiver Torry Holt wants out

ST. LOUIS, March 5 (UPI) -- Seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt of the St. Louis Rams has asked for his release, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday.

Holt, 32, is due a roster bonus of $1.25 million on March 17, and the Rams have 12 days to release him.

He was the sixth overall pick by the Rams out of North Carolina State in the 1999 NFL draft, and in his 10-year career has caught more passes (817) for more yards (11,872) than any receiver in the National Football League.

Holt has one year left on his contract, which counts $10.2 million against the Rams' 2009 salary cap.

When reached by the newspaper Wednesday night, Rams general manager Billy Devaney said, "Our only comment is no comment."

The Post-Dispatch added that league sources said last weekend the Rams were trying to trade both Holt and seven-time Pro Bowl offensive left tackle Orlando Pace.
