DENVER, March 5 (UPI) -- Ty Conklin bounced back from a poor outing to make 25 saves Wednesday and lead Detroit to a 3-2 victory over Colorado.
The Red Wings moved into first place in the race for the Presidents Trophy. They have 94 points, one more than both San Jose and Boston.
Kris Draper scored the game-winner late in the second period and Detroit also got goals from Johan Franzen and Valtgteri Filppula.
In Conklin's most recent outing, Detroit suffered an 8-0 bashing at the hands of Nashville. It was the Red Wings' worst shutout loss in 27 years. Conklin allowed four goals on just nine shots before being removed from that contest.
Chris Osgood was in goal for Detroit when the Red Wings defeated St. Louis on Tuesday.
Colorado lost its sixth straight game. Andrew Raycroft made 27 saves.
