TEMPE, Ariz., March 5 (UPI) -- Landry Fields highlighted an eight-point run to start the second half Thursday night and Stanford went on to stun No. 21 Arizona State 74-64.
The Sun Devils lost their third straight, falling victim to quick starts in both halves by the Cardinal.
Fields made 8-of-12 shots and scored 20 points to lead Stanford. Anthony Goods added 15 points, helping the Cardinal win back-to-back games after dropping four in a row.
Stanford (17-11, 6-11 Pac-10) scored 13 of the game's first 17 points, but had to settle for a 32-26 advantage at the break. The Cardinal then held Arizona State scoreless for the first 4:44 of the second half while building a 40-26 cushion.
Fields scored the last four of those eight points to start the second period, finishing the run with a slam dunk. The Sun Devils (21-8, 10-7) came no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Arizona State was led by 22 points from James Harden and 15 from Jeff Pendergraph.
