BUFFALO, N.Y., March 4 (UPI) -- Two goals each from Derek Roy and Paul Gaustad Wednesday allowed Buffalo to snap a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 decision over Montreal.
Patrick Lalime made 38 saves in helping Buffalo win for the third time in eight contests.
Thomas Vanek, Buffalo's leading scorer, played for the first time in 10 games after suffering a fractured jaw. Vanek played more than 13 minutes without registering a point.
Montreal's only goal came from Tomas Plekanec with just 66 seconds left in the game and Carey Price stopped 22 shots. The Canadiens had won four in a row.
Montreal failed to produce on three first-period power plays and Buffalo finally delivered the game's first goal when Roy put a backhander past Price with 2:07 remaining in the stanza.
