NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Larry Hughes scored 23 points Wednesday and Danilo Gallinari had a career-high 17, lifting New York to a 109-105 win over Atlanta.
The Knicks owned an 11-point lead with 5 minutes to play and held on down the stretch despite playing without guard Nate Robinson (sprained ankle) and Jared Jeffries (bruised knee).
David Lee also produced his 49th double-double of the season and his 24th in a row with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Al Harrington scored 20 to help the Knicks halt a three-game skid.
Atlanta, losers of five out of seven, got 20 points and 13 rebounds from Al Horford.
The Hawks threw a late scare into the Knicks when Flip Murray made a 3-pointer to bring Atlanta within four with 10 seconds to play. New York's Chris Duhon then botched the inbounds pass and Joe Johnson had a chance to cut the Knicks' lead to one. His 3-pointer, however, missed with 8 seconds to go.
New York won the season series with Atlanta 2-1. The Hawks have lost 15 of their last 18 trips to New York.
