Cards keep warner, Ravens hold Lewis

TEMPE, Ariz., March 4 (UPI) -- The NFC champion Arizona Cardinals lost a running back to free agency Wednesday while wrapping up their star quarterback for two more years.

The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, came to terms with linebacker Ray Lewis but could be losing defensive back Samari Rolle.

On a busy day of pro football maneuvering, Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner signed a deal that the Arizona Republic reported was worth $23 million. Warner, who guided Arizona to its first Super Bowl appearance, had tested the free-agent waters last weekend with a visit to San Francisco.

The Cardinals, however, saw free-agent running back J.J. Arrington jump ship for a four-year, $8.8 million contract with Denver. Arrington was in the running for the starting job with the Cardinals next season.

Lewis, one of the NFL's iconic figures after twice being named defensive player of the year, agreed to terms with the Ravens late Wednesday. Lewis was also selected as the Super Bowl MVP eight years ago.

His new contract is reportedly worth $7 million a season over three years.

The Baltimore Sun reported, however, that Rolle wants to leave the Ravens. Baltimore has already lost linebacker Bart Scott through free agency. He joined former Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, who is the new coach of the New York Jets.

"Honestly, I don't want to play in Baltimore anymore because I feel I'm not wanted," Rolle told the Sun. The only man in the building that supported me was Rex."
