Broncos say Cutler won't be traded

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 3 (UPI) -- The Denver Broncos said Tuesday that quarterback Jay Cutler will remain with the team and, contrary to published reports, will not be traded.

"The Denver Broncos are not trading Jay Cutler. Period," said Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth.

The team said Coach Josh McDaniels and Cutler will meet next week when the quarterback returns to Denver from Nashville.

The Denver Post reported Cutler was involved in a trade proposal that would have sent him to Tampa Bay and New England quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. The trade never took place as Cassel was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cutler was drafted by Denver as the 11th overall pick in the 2006 draft. He has thrown for 9,024 yards and 54 touchdowns against 37 interceptions in his first three seasons with the Broncos. This past season he led the AFC with 4,526 passing yards.
