NBA: Phoenix 118, Los Angeles Lakers 111

PHOENIX, March 1 (UPI) -- Shaquille O'Neal totaled 33 points and Matt Barnes scored seven straight down the stretch Sunday, leading the Phoenix Suns past the Los Angeles Lakers 118-111.

The Suns' victory overshadowed a 49-point effort by the Lakers' Kobe Bryant.

Barnes finished with 26 points and seven assists. His string of late points included a 3-point shot with 2 minutes left that helped the Suns pull away.

Leandro Barbosa had 22 points and seven assists and Grant Hill added 17 points for Phoenix.

Pau Gasol, with 30 points, was the only other Laker to hit double figures.
