Tommie Harris' wife dies

LEXINGTON, Ky., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Marcus Thornton and Tasmin Mitchell combined for 44 points Saturday in No. 18 LSU's 73-70 win over Kentucky that gave the Tigers the regular-season SEC title.
Thornton finished with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Mitchell added 21 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (25-4, 13-1 SEC), who have won 13 consecutive conference game since losing their league opener in Alabama Jan. 11. Bo Spencer had 16 points.
It was LSU's first victory on Kentucky's home court in 20 years.
Kentucky (19-10, 8-6) was led by Patrick Patterson, who had 28 points and nine rebounds. Jodie Meeks scored 24 points for the Wildcats, who have lost three of their last four games.
