EDMONTON, Alberta, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Rookie Steve Mason recorded his eighth shutout of the season with 19 saves Thursday night, giving the Columbus Blue Jackets a 1-0 victory over Edmonton.

Raffi Torres scored the only goal of the game, halting the Blue Jackets' two-game skid.

The Oilers, who have lost four out of five, got 31 saves from Dwayne Roloson.

Torres produced his goal 7:45 into the third period. He escaped on a breakaway and put a backhander through Roloson's pads.

Mason is enjoying a sensational rookie season, having posted three consecutive shutouts during one stretch and setting a franchise record for scoreless minutes.
