Report: Blake Griffin has MRI

NORMAN, Okla., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Results of a magnetic resonance imaging test done Sunday on star Oklahoma center Blake Griffin were "clear," team officials told The Oklahoman.

The 6-foot-10 sophomore, a likely player of the year candidate in men's college basketball, was struck over the bridge of his nose by Texas's Dexter Pittman in the first half of the second-ranked Sooners' 73-68 loss Saturday.

He left the court with a bloody nose, was visibly woozy and did not play in the second half.

Griffin was determined to have suffered a concussion and his status for Monday's showdown against 18th-ranked Kansas was uncertain Sunday, the Oklahoma City newspaper said.

"It's not Blake and the Sooners," Coach Jeff Capel said after the Texas loss, referring to his team's chances against the Jayhawks. "It was a decision by the doctors to keep him out of the second half."

To date, Griffin has per-game averages of 22 points and 13.8 rebounds.
