INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The Indianapolis Colts will release longtime wide receiver Marvin Harrison, the NFL Network reported Thursday.

The release of the 13-year veteran will end one of the league's most prolific passing combinations ever.

With quarterback Peyton Manning, Harrison caught 971 passes for 13,090 yards and 110 touchdowns.

Harrison, 36, played in just five games in 2008 because of knee and hamstring injuries.

He made just 60 receptions for a career-low 636 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games.

Harrison, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and 19th overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft out of Syracuse, has spent his entire 13-year career in Indianapolis, with has 1,102 catches for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns in 190 contests.

His release will save the Colts $7 million against the salary cap.

The Colts' heir apparent is former Ohio State star Anthony Gonzalez scored four times in 2008 after 57 catches for 664 yards.
