NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The NBA trade deadline came and went Thursday without any of the league's major names changing teams.
Speculation had increased during the past week that both Amare Stoudemire and Shaquille O'Neal of the Phoenix Suns would be traded. Vince Carter and Rasheed Wallace were also among the high-profile names included in trade talk.
All of them stayed put Thursday. Instead, the biggest deals just before the deadline involved the New York Knicks, who made separate trades with the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Knicks picked up guard Larry Hughes from the Bulls for forward Tim Thomas, guard Anthony Roberson and center Jerome James. New York sent forward Malik Rose to Oklahoma City for forward Chris Wilcox.
Toronto acquired center Patrick O'Bryant from Boston in a three-team trade that involved the Raptors sending guard Will Solomon to Sacramento.
The Celtics received a conditional second-round pick in 2014 from the Kings, who received cash considerations from Boston.
Instead of making trades, Phoenix shook up its club by changing coaches. In the two games the Suns have played since the coaching change, they have reverted to their old style of run-and-gun basketball and produced 282 points.
